Organizers of the 2019 Game Developers Conference are happy to announce that this year's event will be augmented by a new initiative aimed at giving everyone a place to relax and unwind adjacent to the Moscone Center.

This program, which will be open to all (not solely GDC passholders) is called GDC @ The Gardens. It will add seating, blankets and afternoon music DJ sets to Yerba Buena Gardens, which is directly adjacent to San Francisco's newly-remodeled Moscone Convention Center, where GDC 2019 kicks off on March 18th.

The Gardens will be enhanced with chairs, picnic tables and blankets, and anyone is welcome to come by and enjoy the amenities. Meet up with your out-of-town colleagues for an impromptu lunc…

Blizzard is hiring for an unannounced upcoming open-world shooter game. A job ad posted on November 13 revealed this, though the requisition doesn’t have too many details about what the game is.

The job ad for the Associate Design Director, Innovation says this person will be the “vision holder and owner of key strategic innovations” for the upcoming unannounced “open-world shooter game.”

The job calls for someone to help implement strategies that have “shown potential but have not yet permeated the AAA space.” The successful candidate will work with Blizzard’s engineering, art, and audio teams to help guide the project from concept to release. This wording specifically suggests whatever this game is, it might be early in development.

Earlier this month, the PlayStation 5 Pro finally arrived in stores. And while the lack of a disc drive and the $700 price tag have been unpopular with players, Sony President Hiroki Totoki has assured investors that sales of the mid-generation console update haven’t been negatively affected.

As noted by video game reporter Genki_JPN, Totoki recently told Japanese investors that, “In terms of the pricing, many people made different comments on that, but pricing on PS5 Pro has not had a negative impact, I don’t think.” He added that, “Hardcore users are the target of this hardware.”
